Required fields
1. Title - 75 characters max
The Title appears at the top of every page. If the news title is very long, consider shortening it and using the short title field.
2. Summary - 160 characters max
The Summary (also called a meta description) provides a short description of the page for search results, social media, or assistive technology. The Summary does not appear on the page.
When creating a Summary, be concise and describe what visitors will find on the page. For a news release, using and adapting the opening sentence is a good idea.
3. Body - unlimited characters
The Body is where you can add content and flexible Page Components that will appear on the page.
Add and format content using the editor toolbar
Optional fields
1. Short title for URL and breadcrumbs - 100 characters max
Use the Short title for URL and breadcrumbs you’d like a shorter label to show in the breadcrumbs and side navigation menus.
2. Featured image
A Featured Image can be included at the top of the page.
- Use an image at least 800px wide, with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
- The image should be meaningful.
- Don’t use logos, branding, or images with overlaid text.
3. Updated date
Use the Updated date to share the date when the page was last reviewed. This can be extra helpful for pages that have time-sensitive information or content that changes based on law or regulation.
4. Description for listing pages - 250 characters max
Use the Description for listing pages to include a summary or other information when it's included on a Listing Page. When used, this shows underneath the Page title on the Listing Page.
This information does not appear on the news page itself.
5. Related contacts
Use Related contacts to link to other Contact Pages on your site. This may be a media contact or individual mentioned in the story.
These appear underneath a "Related Contacts" heading by default. This can be changed by using the Contact header field.
6. Related links
Use Related links to link to other Basic Pages, Landing Pages or pages on another website. Include related links to learn about services, resources or other information that may be mentioned on the News Page.
These appear underneath a "Related links" heading.
7. Related documents
Use Related documents to link to PDFs, Excel files and other uploaded documents.
These appear underneath a "Related files" heading.
Taxonomy & tags
Use tags to organize your pages. Tags can be used as filters on a Listing Page or automatically pull a page into the Automatic List component. These terms do not appear on the page.
You can categorize News Pages with:
- Topic
- News type
- Division / section
- Agency taxonomy
Changing the date of a News Release
To use a different date than the date the News Release was created:
- Open the Authoring Information section on the right side of the page.
- Update the Authored on date to the official release date of the news item.
- Save the page to apply the changes.
The news header will now display the date of the news release.
